Developing Your Leadership Skills And Abilities

No matter how long you've been in a leading role, you can never stop learning, and you should never stop your own development as a leader. Each experience in life provides valuable insight into yourself as a person and a leader, and how you interact and lead other people.

You Can't Wait For Others To "Develop You"

Sometimes its easy to fall into the trap of waiting for others, your employer, a mentor, or formal education, to help you develop your leadership skills. Those sources of development are useful, but what's even more useful is your reflection on your own experiences, becaus it is those experiences that create the kind of learning that can make you an effective leader.

Reflecting on your experience, as a leader, follower, and human being isn't the only way to continue to develop and learn. There are dozens of small ways to improve if only you seek out those opportunities.

It's not about where you study, or even what you study, but what you do "out there" in the real world, under your own steam in a self directed way.
